It was a match made in hilarious-people heaven: Deb McGrath and Colin Mochrie met while honing their improv skills with Toronto's famous Second City troupe, and now they are putting their 28-year marriage centre-stage. The CBC’s king and queen of comedy co-created Getting Along Famously as well as a pilot called Filling the Gaps, and played a husband and wife in Love Letters and the TV movie Sunshine Sketches of a Little Town. Now, audiences can laugh along with these funny folks when they perform live on stage together in their ultimate comedy partnership.
The couple are both household names: Canadians know Deb as the mayor in Little Mosque on the Prairie and from The Ron James Show. The 2002 movie Expecting, which also starred Colin, earned her an Actra Award nomination, and the following year she formed the comedy troupe Women Fully Clothed, which she performed with for six years. Deb has been honoured in her hometown on the Scarborough Walk of Fame. She has a secret life, too: Deb voices dozens of animated characters in shows like Bob and Margaret and Franklin.
Canada encountered Colin on the cast of This Hour Has 22 Minutes for two seasons, and he appeared regularly on the British improv series Whose Line is it Anyway? for nine years before joining the cast of the American version hosted by Drew Carey. One of the world’s leading improvisers, Colin continues to crack audiences up in the current iteration of the show on the CW Network. In all his spare time, he tours the world with Brad Sherwood, performing An Evening with Colin and Brad, a live improv show that is one of the longest-running comedy tours in history. The duo taped a live special of the show for the CW called Two Man Group. In 2013, Colin was named Canadian Comedy Person of the Year at the Canadian Comedy Awards.
See these side-splitting spouses in true wedded bliss as they laugh about love, and growing older together.
